The game's namesake - the Phantom Hourglass - comes into play in the temple you have to explore to move forward in the game. The sand in the hourglass represents your life - life that gets slowly drained away bit by bit whenever you aren't standing in one of the temple's 'Safe Zones'. Basically, this means that each temple works like a timed puzzle as your life force slowly slides away, but with the added bonus of being able to stop, catch your breath, and strategize your next move without having to worry about the clock all the time.

The temples are also the locations of the game's battle minigame, which can be played against the computer or with a friend. In this game, you take turns playing either Link or the temple guards. Link's goal is to pick up triforce pieces from around the map and bring them back to his base. The goal of the guards, of course, is to smash Link...

Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor -- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris.

Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game's physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game'ss random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Blizzard Entertainment's renowned online gaming service, Battle.net®. Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. For older gamers with fond memories of the gems that graced our consoles (and computers) in the 80s and 90s, Xbox Live has been a dream come true. Retro titles that may otherwise been impossible to find, have slowly been popping up on Microsofts service boasting interesting new features and enhanced graphics. Last weeks release of the Bitmap Brothers classic take on the future of sports, Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe is no exception. In addition to sporting more teams in league play, some light RPG elements, and new enhanced graphics, also on the table is multiplayer support over Xbox Live. For fans of retro gaming it rarely gets better than this.

Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe is one of those fun pick up and play games that doesn't require memorization of a lot of controls or is bound by overly complex rules. As one of two teams your goal, quite simply, is to throw a ball into the goal to score. Points are also garnered by injuring players, hitting targets around the arena, and collecting powerups that can give a much needed boost during some later frantic league matches.
