...Midway is bringing current-gen Mortal Kombat to a close with Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, the biggest title in this legendary fighting game series to date. Armageddon promises to be the most complete MK title ever with tons of gameplay, dozens of characters to choose from, and several new features to bring longtime fans of the series back for one final blast through the Outworld...

...Last but not least, the game's producer hinted at a super secret mode akin to the zany puzzle games in previous MK titles. We don't really know what to expect, but we imagine it'll be a simple, pick-up-and-play style as the other mini-games have been. Maybe Gauntlet with Mortal Kombat characters? Damn you Midway, you have us thinking! Keep checking back as Armageddon nears its October release date...

We finally got one. Finally. Yes, there is now a zombie video game in the stores that lives up to the classic zombie horror flicks. The developers at Capcom insist via a disclaimer on the front of Dead Rising's box that no, legendary horror filmmaker George A. Romero was not a part of this project, nor does this title have anything official to do with his seminal zombie movie Dawn of the Dead. Why even bother? Well, there are some very conspicuous similarities here: zombies in a mall, people getting eaten, that sort of thing. But if this game needs a disclaimer, then don't World of Warcraft developers Blizzard Entertainment need one disclaiming any perceived similarity to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings? Or what about the hundreds of books, shows, movies, and games that borrow from popular culture? ...

Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II is a great game that improves upon its predecessor, utilizes some of the best graphics of any RTS today, and finally lets you fight anywhere in Middle-earth. And you can summon Tom Bombadil. He's the happy fellow above. It's just something you'll want to do.

If you played the first BFME game, you'll probably be surprised by how different this sequel is. First of all, the entire scheme of play has changed. Instead of one type of campaign mode available, you now have two. The first type is the Good or Evil Campaign single player mode.

This single player, which is unfortunately the most generic of the modes here, does away with pretty large elements of the first game ...
