...This racing game has not changed substantially - you still pilot a car at breakneck speeds through the crowded streets of unnamed cities. You get points for driving recklessly. Weaving through oncoming traffic and drifting around corners builds up boost, which then can be triggered for a scary speed burst...

...Instead of racing, most of the events take the form of challenges: drift for over 9,000 yards, complete a lap in under a minute, take out fifteen cars. These are neat mini games, but here they have almost completely replaced the basic racing game which is rubber-banded to death anyway...

Rumor: Forza 2 again delayed? FunnyGames, September 11, 2006
What we heard: One phrase Xbox-owning racing fans are no strangers to is "Forza Motorsport is delayed." The game was first shown off at E3 2004 and was expected to ship that holiday season. Then it was delayed...and delayed again...and delayed again...

So it likely comes as little surprise that the game's successor is in the rumor mill as also being a victim of delays. Forza Motorsport 2 for the Xbox 360 was scheduled to be released this November, in time for both the holiday rush and the release of the Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel. Now, according to a post over on the forums at Gaming Age, it appears Forza 2 won't hit the streets until 2007...

The same can be said for the much-vaunted Valve and its ongoing vaporware, Team Fortress 2. Rather than spending three or four years working on 20-hour long epics, they would instead focus on episodic content. The games are shorter, to be sure, but the smaller scope and speedier development times allow them to put out quality titles once every six months, rather than once every few years.
