Both games will let you take control of little computer people and their virtual lives, cooking and eating virtual meals, meeting and greeting virtual friends and making virtual trips to their tiny little bathrooms. The Sims 2 has expanded the original Sims game by adding a lot of new features, such as genetics, which lets you build up families of your little "sim" characters and have children who bear strong resemblances to their parents. Now, the world of The Sims 2 game will be expanded just below eye level with man's best friend (dogs), as well as man's fairly good acquaintances: aquarium fish, cats and hamsters...

We finally got one. Finally. Yes, there is now a zombie video game in the stores that lives up to the classic zombie horror flicks. The developers at Capcom insist via a disclaimer on the front of Dead Rising's box that no, legendary horror filmmaker George A. Romero was not a part of this project, nor does this title have anything official to do with his seminal zombie movie Dawn of the Dead. Why even bother? Well, there are some very conspicuous similarities here: zombies in a mall, people getting eaten, that sort of thing. But if this game needs a disclaimer, then don't World of Warcraft developers Blizzard Entertainment need one disclaiming any perceived similarity to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings? Or what about the hundreds of books, shows, movies, and games that borrow from popular culture? ...

Lost: Via Domus Review (Xbox) FunnyGames, February 29, 2008
You may be wondering if we really needed a video game based on the hit TV show Lost. While the show has a legion of fans, they've already got their hands full with the alternate reality game that went around and tons of mysteries still going on in each episode. But here comes Ubisoft with a licensed game, whether we like it or not. And frankly, unless you enjoy both light adventure games and the actual show, you'll probably not make it through this one. But for that narrow combination of fans of both, this can wind up being a pretty solid game...

...I'm not a huge adventure gaming fan, but I found that exploration and just taking in all the Lost-like stuff to be the best part of Via Domus. Solving fusebox puzzles by fiddling around with wiring is a significant part of your adventures...
