Funny News: Dead Rising Review

August 14, 2006: Dead Rising Review

We finally got one. Finally. Yes, there is now a zombie video game in the stores that lives up to the classic zombie horror flicks. The developers at Capcom insist via a disclaimer on the front of Dead Rising's box that no, legendary horror filmmaker George A. Romero was not a part of this project, nor does this title have anything official to do with his seminal zombie movie Dawn of the Dead. Why even bother? Well, there are some very conspicuous similarities here: zombies in a mall, people getting eaten, that sort of thing. But if this game needs a disclaimer, then don't World of Warcraft developers Blizzard Entertainment need one disclaiming any perceived similarity to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings? Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins Review FunnyGames, September 5, 2006
Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins is a definite ode to the old school series and to classic arcade games in general. It doesn't compromise its values, staying true to its ridiculous difficulty, forgettable storyline and outlandish enemies. It may not be the most innovative game on the PSP, and it's not without its faults, but old school gamers and action fanatics will find a lot to enjoy here.

Recently christened gamers might find the old school mechanics too frustrating and should think about checking out the originals before dropping down 40 bucks on the latest version.

Summer Athletics Review FunnyGames, September 12, 2008
Summer Athletics isn't as beautiful or expansive as 'Beijing 2008', the official game of this summer's Olympics, but the cool thing about playing a track and field game on the Wii instead of on another platform is that you actually need to move to do it...

..Overall, Summer Athletics isn't a horrible game but it suffers the lack of creativity its ho-hum name implies. While the Wii controls make it relatively entertaining, it makes us beg for more: more events, more stats and customization and more sound, not to mention better graphics and animation. Fingers crossed that Data Design Interactive uses the next four years to improve on it rather than making a sequel to Ninja Bread Man.

The Bad: Limited selection of events; mediocre sound, animation and graphics

The Good: Interesting control schemes; 4-player split-screen/sequential multi-player; getting to smack your brother in the face while doing the backstroke
