Sid Meier's latest strategy-sim takes the series into full 3D for first time, adds new ways to manage a society.
2K Games today announced that it is bringing
Civilization IV to the unwashed masses--and to the washed masses, too. Starting tomorrow, masses of all manner will be able to buy the latest strategy sim from Sid Meier, as it is at this moment on its way to North American retailers (a European release is planned for November 4).
Where previous installments of the series won acclaim for letting players take a
civilization from the cradle to the grave (or world domination) through ugly warfare or uglier politics,

Sega rolled out a Wii version of Super Monkey Ball recently, and we had a chance to check out all of the monkey madness using the system's motion-sensing remote and nunchaku. There's not much that looks different in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, but its feel adds a new layer of fun when controlling AiAi and friends.
In the single-player puzzle demo, tilting the remote sent AiAi rolling in the corresponding direction. Slightly pointing the remote down rolled him forward, leaning it to the right or left initiated a turn, and adjusting it to the ceiling slowed him down and eventually sent him backwards. The same can be said for the much-vaunted Valve and its ongoing vaporware, Team Fortress 2.
