Gothic 3 preview
...Although we probably only saw the tip of the iceberg of this game, the graphics looked wonderful. The Unnamed Hero was bad, big and wore very cool armor. His fire spells in the game featured some sizzling effects and the environments were alive with atmospheric details, like uppity humans hanging from poles. This is not like the Final Fantasy game.
Rather, it’s the third game in a series we’ve only just become acquainted with, and can’t wait to get to know the game better. With its good looks, fascinating racial dynamics, intense action and absolute freedom, Gothic 3 game will let us unleash both our inner wusses and bullies when the game hits the shelves in November 2006.

The Impact of Episodic Gaming FunnyGames, April 19, 2006GameDailyBiz has a piece up looking at what episodic content is, and what it means to the future of the games industry. From the article: "
Our age is one of aging. Mainstream gamers are now older on average than they have ever been. When you are single and unemployed, it is easy to play The Godfather for nine straight hours the day the game hits the shelf. When you are married, it becomes tougher. When you have kids, it might be impossible. It is difficult to slice some time for yourself. And in that slice, you have to carve a portion for gaming. It is no wonder casual games that require no more than 10 minutes to play continue to grow in popularity. This is why we are more likely to login to Call of Duty 2 on Xbox Live to play a quick five-minute Team Deathmatch and leave the Lobby."

Titan Quest - Atlas shrugged review FunnyGames, July 8, 2006Nothing sucks the air out of a brilliant game like its inevitable clone backdraft, and nowhere is that more evident than in the case of Blizzard’s Diablo. Nox, Restricted Area and Sacred pleasantly plagiarized in the past, while more recent games like Dungeon Siege and even the Champions of Norrath series gussy it up enough to almost feel like new experiences. Regardless of their success, though, they’ve all borne the weight of their demonic ancestor upon narrow shoulders.
And now, the techie torch has been passed to THQ and Iron Lore, who have dubbed it Titan Quest. While this latest mob farmfest heralds seamless multiplayer, interesting character-class blending and a world editor of epic proportions, its gameplay falls short of hitting the addictive hack-and-loot formula of its impressive forbear...
