Sampling of EA's real-time strategy game set in Tolkien's universe features aspects from popular films, tomes.
For fans of The Lord of the Rings books and movies, there is now one demo to rule them all. The first playable demo of Electronic Arts' The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II is now available on GameSpot.

The hefty single-player sampling (it weighs in at more than 1.3GBs) allows gamers to try their hand at the real-time strategy game's tutorial, as well as the skirmish mode on two different maps. The demo's playable factions include two of the three new races--the goblins and the dwarves.

Settlers II remake announced FunnyGames, June 12, 2006
Ubisoft has announced it's going back to its roots with a new edition of the 10-year-old classic, Settlers II. The game will feature up-to-date 3D graphics, but the gameplay focus will be the same as the original. Players will have to combine economical acumen with prowess in battle to successfully develop their population, with three races to choose from: Romans, Nubians, and Chinese.

The game, set in an approximation of the 5th century BC, will feature 31 different buildings, 25 carriers, 5 military units, and 31 types of goods to manipulate, across 10 single-player campaigns. In addition, the game will ship with a random map generator and multiplayer modes and...

The holiday rush means that a lot of games fall by the wayside in favor of more glitzy, big budget affairs.
