August 7, 2006: The Sims 2: Pets Impressions preview...If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're already familiar with The Sims game and its sequel, The Sims 2. Both games will let you take control of little computer people and their virtual lives, cooking and eating virtual meals, meeting and greeting virtual friends and making virtual trips to their tiny little bathrooms. The Sims 2 has expanded the original Sims game by adding a lot of new features, such as genetics, which lets you build up families of your little "sim" characters and have children who bear strong resemblances to their parents. Now, the world of The Sims 2 game will be expanded just below eye level with man's best friend (dogs), as well as man's fairly good acquaintances: aquarium fish, cats and hamsters...

50 worst videogame names ever FunnyGames, July 3, 2006From Dick Butkus to Hootie and the Blowfish to Lake Titicaca, bad names for games have been with us forever. But thanks to the inevitable collision of reclusive nerds, bizarre artists and painfully unhip marketing execs, the video game industry enjoys some of the worst game names of all.
The following game name list was compiled after hours of lively debate, pages of exhausting science and one actual geek fistfight. During this laborious process, we decided to set up a few basic rules:
1. All games must have been wide releases for legitimate, popular platforms.
2. We tried to avoid games heavy on the Engrish. Translation errors are just too easy.

You may be wondering if we really needed a video game based on the hit TV show Lost. While the show has a legion of fans, they've already got their hands full with the alternate reality game that went around and tons of mysteries still going on in each episode. But here comes Ubisoft with a licensed game, whether we like it or not. And frankly, unless you enjoy both light adventure games and the actual show, you'll probably not make it through this one. But for that narrow combination of fans of both, this can wind up being a pretty solid game...
...I'm not a huge adventure gaming fan, but I found that exploration and just taking in all the Lost-like stuff to be the best part of Via Domus. Solving fusebox puzzles by fiddling around with wiring is a significant part of your adventures...
