Funny News: Review: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

April 10, 2007: Review: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

It's been over five years in the making and it's gotten pretty close to the top of a lot of lists of software that might never be released, but here it is: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. This first person shooter, from Eastern European developer GSC Game World, promises a new kind of open-ended FPS gameplay where there are many different ways you can progress and lots of non-critical quests and tasks you can do before getting to the end of the game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. takes place in the future in the Zone, an area surrounding the melted down nuclear reactor at the Chernobyl power plant in Russia. You play a character who showed up with no memory and only a...

The Club Game Review FunnyGames, February 29, 2008
Bizarre Creations' The Club is a bewildering beast of a video game. The core gameplay conceit of tightly focused speed and combo runs through a mixture of gun-toting enemy-filled maps works extremely well in practice. Problem is, nearly everything surrounding what works is astoundingly unimpressive, from the "set up and discard" approach to an otherwise compelling backstory to the game's criminally tacked-on multiplayer. ...If you're a fan of arcade games and constantly reaching for higher and higher point totals, don't worry about The Club's lesser elements. The core gameplay is tremendously entertaining, a great thing when you consider that repeat playthroughs are a must if the highest point barriers are to be broken. The multiplayer may be a bust and the story non-existent, but The Club is a worthwhile purchase for those seeking a challenging solo experience and/or a moderately-paced party game...

While the original Streets of Rage always stood in the shadow of Capcom's genre-defining Final Fight, Sega's homegrown beat-'em-up series really came into its own with Streets of Rage 2. Released two years after the original, Streets of Rage 2 offered markedly refined gameplay and improved presentation, both technically and stylistically. The game was released on the Wii Virtual Console earlier this year, and now it's on Xbox Live Arcade with a few new bells and whistles...

...While there were minor differences between the three playable characters in the original Streets of Rage, they're much more pronounced here. Most significant is that each character has a special attack that effectively replaces the ability to call in an artillery strike from the first game, though even basics like run speed, attack strength, and how grapple moves are executed look and feel unique to each of the four characters...
