...In terms of mechanics, the game plays like X-Men Legends, only from a third-person rather than top down perspective. In other words, the game looks good and seems like it SHOULD be fun (again, how hard is it?), but it feels like you've done this before and with a better game to boot. You control one of the Fantastic Four (for those of you who don't know, choosing between Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Girl, The Thing, or The Human Torch) at a time and can switch back and forth between characters on the fly.

...The Wii version is similar on most fronts, except it's played from a more top down perspective (making it look a lot like the X-Men legends games) with (obviously) inferior graphics to the Xbox 360 and PS3. They try to make up for this by using the motion control system, which creates the interesting paradox of a motion control button masher! Just keep waggling. Really, with the Wii controller and nunchuck the game becomes even more tedious...

Here is what you need to know about Tetris Evolution. The game is pretty much exactly the same as its ancient socialist forbear, but now it's dressed up in capitalist clothes that don't match or even fit. The game fails for the same reasons as the Soviet Union, it just couldn't keep up with the times. At least the Soviet Union knew when to quit.

Geometrical arrangements of colored blocks descend from the top of the screen and the player must rotate and place them to form solid horizontal lines across the bottom. I played a lot of poker in high school. That was back in the mid-1970s. Poker for high school students wasn't like it is today. There was no Internet, no televised poker tournaments, and surely no legal poker rooms in New York where I grew up. For high school kids especially, poker was strictly an underground game illegal, forbidden, and compelling. For us it was like smoking cigarettes or drinking beer or smoking pot or getting laid. You wanted to do it because it was forbidden. And it was fun.

A favorite variety of the game back then was guts. We generally played it in the senior room of the high school a private room set aside only for seniors where we got away with playing poker because faculty didn't enter (unless they smelled cigarettes or pot). Small fortunes changed hands over this game. And we were all on very short bankrolls.
