After more than 18 months of anticipation, Crysis is almost here. If all goes according to plan, this highly-awaited first-person shooter game will go gold in a matter of days, meaning that it's finished and headed for duplication and manufacturing.

We could keep going, but you're probably getting a good idea of what the early levels of Crysis are like. There's tons of intense tactical action, but also lots of depth. We could probably replay the opening game levels over and over again, each time using different approaches and methods. If we had more time during our play session, we would have definitely spent a lot more time skulking around in the jungle, sneaking up on North Koreans and dispatching them quietly. As it was, we took a very aggressive, run-and-gun approach due to time limitations. Thankfully, though, with the game coming out in a matter of weeks, we'll have plenty of time soon enough to explore the many possibilities of Crysis.

Many gamers are going to buy Eden Studios' Alone in the Dark and instantly take a liking to the game's all together different approach. The episodic format, the highly stylized cinematic set pieces, the HUD-free presentation, the first/third person gameplay, the 1:1 analog controls for two-handed weapons... there's a lot of forward-thinking stuff to latch on to. However, no matter how enthusiastic the gamer, all will eventually be given pause. Maybe it's a car getting inexplicably lodged in some invisible part of the environment. Maybe it's a needless death because the camera didn't catch up to the action quickly enough. Maybe, just maybe, the game will even crash and take with it any progress you've made in an episode. Settlers II remake announced FunnyGames, June 12, 2006
Ubisoft has announced it's going back to its roots with a new edition of the 10-year-old classic, Settlers II. The game will feature up-to-date 3D graphics, but the gameplay focus will be the same as the original. Players will have to combine economical acumen with prowess in battle to successfully develop their population, with three races to choose from: Romans, Nubians, and Chinese.

The game, set in an approximation of the 5th century BC, will feature 31 different buildings, 25 carriers, 5 military units, and 31 types of goods to manipulate, across 10 single-player campaigns. In addition, the game will ship with a random map generator and multiplayer modes and...
