Funny News: Lost: Via Domus Review (Xbox)

February 29, 2008: Lost: Via Domus Review (Xbox)

You may be wondering if we really needed a video game based on the hit TV show Lost. While the show has a legion of fans, they've already got their hands full with the alternate reality game that went around and tons of mysteries still going on in each episode. But here comes Ubisoft with a licensed game, whether we like it or not. And frankly, unless you enjoy both light adventure games and the actual show, you'll probably not make it through this one. But for that narrow combination of fans of both, this can wind up being a pretty solid game...

...I'm not a huge adventure gaming fan, but I found that exploration and just taking in all the Lost-like stuff to be the best part of Via Domus. Solving fusebox puzzles by fiddling around with wiring is a significant part of your adventures...

Wolfenstein Preview FunnyGames, August 4, 2008
Wolfenstein is being created for simultaneous release on the PC, PS3, and 360 - previously, id as well as other PC-centric developers have moved away from their home platform and towards consoles, citing piracy as well as difficulty with sales overall as the reason. Some thought that meant that id was abandoning the PC altogether or intended on tossing together a sloppy console-like port as an afterthought, but if Wolfenstein is the standard that they're setting for themselves, I don't think we have much to worry about. id's own Kevin Cloud said that his home platform is still the PC and his playtesting sessions with this game take place on PC. pressed on, though, and asked about the game engine - it's based originally on the Quake 4 engine but in the four years since that was released, Raven's changed the engine enough for Wolfenstein that it's pretty much separate technology by now. I also expressed doubts about what kind of a PC release we'd get when consoles have to be...>>

Castle Crashers Arcade Preview FunnyGames, April 23, 2007
Castle Crashers is, by far, the most anticipated Xbox Live Arcade game of the year. It won the Audience Award at this year's Independent Games Festival, it features the work of the guys behind some classic flash games, and it combines the fun of Golden Axe with the graphics of Alien Hominid. Really, what more could you ask for? ...

...While this is all awesome news for fans of the genre, the real draw of Castle Crashers is undoubtedly the art style, which is entirely hand-drawn and smooth as silk. Fans of Alien Hominid (especially on Xbox Live Arcade) will definitely find themselves in familiar territory here, with outlandish violence and bright colors taking up the majority of the palate in CC...
