October 1, 2006: Review: Doom Xbox live ArcadeIn a bit of a shocking announcement, Microsoft announced just this week that Doom would be hitting Xbox Live Arcade, well, instantly. In the same way that Steve Jobs announces a new iPod and they're in stores right away, Doom was ready and waiting for folks to download it on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
The classic PC game is the first FPS to hit Live Marketplace, and it's definitely one of the more polished titles on the service, offering up all the old school gory gameplay you remember, along with some nifty new extras...
...Thankfully, you get a lot more than just the single-player. Doom allows for people to hop on Live and play online co-op (through all the single-player levels) or deathmatch (through all the classic DM maps). Monster Hunter Freedom Review FunnyGames, June 12, 2006Monster Hunter Freedom is a pretty straight port of a Japanese-only PS2 game that came out about a year ago. The basic idea is that you're an up-and-coming warrior looking to cut your teeth on some simple quests. Eventually you'll gain notoriety, going on more advanced adventures, collecting cool new gear and doing some serious hacking and slashing...
...The PSP is a handheld and as such it should play host to games which are quick and easy to pick up and have fun with. Monster Hunter Freedom is simply a case of a poorly chosen port that probably should've stayed on the PS2...and in Japan, for that matter...

...FlatOut 2, while not a major improvement over the first game, is still a quality demolition racer game. The addition of more content in each and every mode is certainly a plus for this game, and the driving still has a satisfyingly destructive vibe to it. It's just too bad that it doesn't have the same quirky, filthy vibe like in the first game. Fortunately, there are still plenty of lovable qualities to be found in FlatOut 2, especially if all you want is the same basic racing gameplay as in the first FlatOut, but with a lot more of it.
The Good: Cars and tracks wreck and deform wonderfully; new plenty of content to mess with throughout the career mode, stunt mode, and online playto the stunt mode; mostly good soundtrack; stunts can be a real hoot...
