It has been weeks since anyone's paid attention to Xbox Live Arcade. Unless you're a hardcore fan of twenty-year-old remakes or add-on packs for expensive puzzle games, there's not been a whole lot to keep you occupied. Since Heavy Weapon, consider the release list the service has seen: Ms Pac-Man, Lumines Live Puzzle/Mission pack, Nothing, Root Beer Tapper, Paperboy, Nada. Not exactly gangbusters for Microsoft...
...This week MS announced several upcoming titles to assure that Xbox Live Arcade won't be quiet forever. EA is supporting the service with a new Wing Commander game and a rhythm game called Boom Boom Rocket. There's also the much anticipated release of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and the rumored release of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game...

Beijing 2008 - Olympic Games Review FunnyGames, August 4, 2008Beijing 2008 is as much a mini-game collection as Mario Party. Any of the dozens of events may test your skills as a button-masher, Simon Says expert, or rolling motion professional. It may sound or look like a game that was made for the everyman but was really made for one man (or woman): the kind that doesn't mind a little excruciating nonsense.
Take running and swimming, for example. As expected, you'll have to jam on the A and B buttons (alternately) to make your athlete run. When swimming, you can jam on various buttons and exhaust your thumbs or fingers to no end, or spin both analog sticks toward or away from each other. Chances are you have played a game like this before. The button-altering gameplay became a frequently copied commodity after Sega's Olympic titles popularized it in the 90s. If it was fun the last time you experienced it, you are probably looking forward to having it here. But there are a couple of problems to consider before diving into the pool.
First there's repetition. Before winning a race, the game can be a pain...>>

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Review FunnyGames, October 29, 2007The game's namesake - the Phantom Hourglass - comes into play in the temple you have to explore to move forward in the game. The sand in the hourglass represents your life - life that gets slowly drained away bit by bit whenever you aren't standing in one of the temple's 'Safe Zones'. Basically, this means that each temple works like a timed puzzle as your life force slowly slides away, but with the added bonus of being able to stop, catch your breath, and strategize your next move without having to worry about the clock all the time.
The temples are also the locations of the game's battle minigame, which can be played against the computer or with a friend. In this game, you take turns playing either Link or the temple guards. Link's goal is to pick up triforce pieces from around the map and bring them back to his base. The goal of the guards, of course, is to smash Link...
