September 4, 2007: Streets of Rage 2 ReviewWhile the original Streets of Rage always stood in the shadow of Capcom's genre-defining Final Fight, Sega's homegrown beat-'em-up series really came into its own with Streets of Rage 2. Released two years after the original, Streets of Rage 2 offered markedly refined gameplay and improved presentation, both technically and stylistically. The game was released on the Wii Virtual Console earlier this year, and now it's on Xbox Live Arcade with a few new bells and whistles...
...While there were minor differences between the three playable characters in the original Streets of Rage, they're much more pronounced here. Most significant is that each character has a special attack that effectively replaces the ability to call in an artillery strike from the first game, though even basics like run speed, attack strength, and how grapple moves are executed look and feel unique to each of the four characters...

Switchball Review FunnyGames, November 29, 2007The holiday rush means that a lot of games fall by the wayside in favor of more glitzy, big budget affairs. It's a shame, cause a lot of these games are developed by small studios that really don't have a sliver of the marketing might of a big house...and yet, oftentimes their games are just as good if not better! Take for example Switchball, an XBLA game developed by Atomic Elbow.
Switchball has you controlling a marble, rolling it over obstacles to reach a gyrocopter finish line. It's very much in the spirit of Marble Madness, albeit with a focus on puzzle solving rather than racing to the bottom and...

Indiana Jones preview FunnyGames, June 6, 2006
Lucky us. We caught a glimpse of Lucasarts' next-gen Indiana Jones game. The plot is still a mystery, heck the game isn't scheduled to be released even remotely soon, but we did witness a super cool tech demo at E3 to whet our appetites.
As we've reported before, the game utilizes the Euphoria engine...which promises to advance video game character animations into realms we previously could only dream about.
In the demo we watched, Indy was standing on a cable car that was racing downhill through San Francisco's old-time Chinatown. Villains were coming from everywhere, from inside the cable car and also jumping onto the roof from other cars...
