Despite its title, New Super Mario Bros. was a return to Nintendo's roots, a throwback to the 2D side-scrolling fare of the classic Mario titles. New Super Mario Bros. also proved a return to popular form this week in Japan, where it reclaimed the No. 1 spot atop the country's top-selling games for the week of June 26 to July 2, according to data from Media Create.
The charts, which spell out the best-selling games of the week, reflected Japanese gamers' strong affection for the Nintendo DS and Sony PlayStation 2. Newcomer Boku no Natsuyasumi Portable for the PSP was the lone anomaly in the top 10, at No. 8.
Meanwhile, Square-Enix's role-player Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, which held the top spot in last week's charts, fell three spots to fourth. A new entry on the PlayStation 2, Super Dragon Ball Z, took second...

Crysis - First Three Levels FunnyGames, October 29, 2007After more than 18 months of anticipation, Crysis is almost here. If all goes according to plan, this highly-awaited first-person shooter game will go gold in a matter of days, meaning that it's finished and headed for duplication and manufacturing.

We could keep going, but you're probably getting a good idea of what the early levels of Crysis are like. There's tons of intense tactical action, but also lots of depth. We could probably replay the opening game levels over and over again, each time using different approaches and methods. Summer Athletics Review FunnyGames, September 12, 2008Summer Athletics isn't as beautiful or expansive as 'Beijing 2008', the official game of this summer's Olympics, but the cool thing about playing a track and field game on the Wii instead of on another platform is that you actually need to move to do it...
..Overall, Summer Athletics isn't a horrible game but it suffers the lack of creativity its ho-hum name implies. While the Wii controls make it relatively entertaining, it makes us beg for more: more events, more stats and customization and more sound, not to mention better graphics and animation. Fingers crossed that Data Design Interactive uses the next four years to improve on it rather than making a sequel to Ninja Bread Man.
The Bad: Limited selection of events; mediocre sound, animation and graphics
The Good: Interesting control schemes; 4-player split-screen/sequential multi-player; getting to smack your brother in the face while doing the backstroke
