When they first appeared on the scene, real-time strategy games started off with the basics of harvesting resources, building your base, and eventually churning out an army of toy soldiers to beat up your opponents before they did the same to you. Times have changed. These games have become faster-paced and more streamlined, with better control layouts, prettier graphics, and in the case of EALA's upcoming sequel, they have scout dogs and parachuting bears. Yes, Red Alert 3 may look like Command & Conquer 3's wackier cousin, but as we saw from our exclusive hands-on time with the game, there's also a finely-tuned and deep strategy game within. Transformers: The Game Reviewed FunnyGames, July 24, 2007
...The game does follow the movie's plot loosely, but you'll find that the missions you need to do are generally less exciting than in the movie due to the rather dull action sequences. From playing as the Autobot Bumblebee whose mission is to protect Mikaela and Sam (and his great-grandfather's glasses that have the encoded location of the "Allspark" on them) to just plain destroying half of a city as a Decepticon, the events in the game do follow the movie but are decidedly more disjointed and often have you doing things repeatedly just so that the overall length of the game is increased...

...Transformers does have a few redeeming moments, like when you get to play as Scorponok, but there are just way too many long stretches of mediocrity for me to be able to recommend this one. The PS3 version looks great in screenshots, but it plays like a budget game and yet still sports the full $59.99 price tag....

Nothing sucks the air out of a brilliant game like its inevitable clone backdraft, and nowhere is that more evident than in the case of Blizzard�s Diablo. Nox, Restricted Area and Sacred pleasantly plagiarized in the past, while more recent games like Dungeon Siege and even the Champions of Norrath series gussy it up enough to almost feel like new experiences. Regardless of their success, though, they�ve all borne the weight of their demonic ancestor upon narrow shoulders.

And now, the techie torch has been passed to THQ and Iron Lore, who have dubbed it Titan Quest. While this latest mob farmfest heralds seamless multiplayer, interesting character-class blending and a world editor of epic proportions, its gameplay falls short of hitting the addictive hack-and-loot formula of its impressive forbear...
