November 29, 2007: Switchball Review

The holiday rush means that a lot of games fall by the wayside in favor of more glitzy, big budget affairs. It's a shame, cause a lot of these games are developed by small studios that really don't have a sliver of the marketing might of a big house...and yet, oftentimes their games are just as good if not better! Take for example Switchball, an XBLA game developed by Atomic Elbow.

Switchball has you controlling a marble, rolling it over obstacles to reach a gyrocopter finish line. It's very much in the spirit of Marble Madness, albeit with a focus on puzzle solving rather than racing to the bottom and...

Painkiller: Hell Wars review FunnyGames, August 7, 2006
...The single player game takes you through the best missions from the PC game and the expansion pack, and should take you a healthy amount of time to blow through. There's even some replay value, thanks to secret "Dark Tarot" cards that unlock new powers and upgrades.

As far as mindless FPS games go, Painkiller: Hell Wars isn't a bad pickup. It's only 30 bucks, and for folks that haven't picked up the 360, it's one of the few new FPS games you'll be seeing for some time.

The 'Other' Games of Poker: 5 Card Draw FunnyGames, December 20, 2006
Whether it was at your Grandma's kitchen table, in your neighbor's smoky, beer-drenched basement, or behind the bleachers at St. Patrick Junior High School, 5 card draw was the first poker game most of us learned to play. Back when Chris Moneymaker and Daniel Negreanu were still in diapers, draw poker was the game du jour and Southern California's card rooms were its thriving epicenter.
